January 2010: Tribute to André Lavrat |
We are sad to learn about the death of André Lavat, craftsman in wrought iron and sculptor, who was closely associated to Roger Toulouse work on sculpture. At the beginning of the seventies, when the paintor first started the sculpture, advised by Hervé Bazin, he cut and put together his first triangulated realisations in André Lavrat workshop. After that, for the assemblage of the monumental sculptures ordered by public institutions, Roger worked at Meung-sur-Loire, in Chrétien workshop, where there was more place. We get back in touch with the Lavrat family, in particular with André's son, François Lavrat. Famous sculptor himself, he recently worked for us twice: - for the in-depth restoration of the sculpture "Hommage à René Guy Cadou", waiting future relocation in public place by Orleans city; - to give back a great patina to the sculpture "Jeanne d'Arc à l'Etendard", which was donated in 2008 to the Fine Arts Museum of Orleans. May the precious memories of the collaboration of those two men comfort his son, François, and his family, and bring them our wholehearted sympathy. François Lavrat: sculptor
